'Chicken Noodle Soup' Lyrics: BTS' J-Hope and Becky G Song Translated (2024)

BTS' J-Hope is branching out with a solo song, "Chicken Noodle Soup," a collaboration with actor-and-singer Becky G.

BTS' record label Big Hit Entertainment announced that "Chicken Noodle Soup" would drop Friday at 5 a.m. The song is inspired by and samples "Chicken Noodle Soup," a 2006 one-hit wonder by Webstar and Young B, featuring AG aka The Voice of Harlem.

The updated "Chicken Noodle Soup" features lyrics in English, Korean and Spanish, giving it a true international flavor and playing off J-Hope's South Korean roots and Becky G's Mexican heritage.

Becky G teased the collaboration with J-Hope on Twitter Thursday, writing: "Soooo... #BeckyHasAnotherSecret"

The official BTS Twitter responded: "Hey @iambeckyg, I have a secret, too..."

In May, J-Hope specifically singled out Becky as an artist he'd like to collaborate with in an interview with 102.7 KIIS FM.

Becky first gushed about BTS in early May when they all met at the Billboard Music Awards. Becky posted a picture with the K-pop supergroup and wrote: "Almost wanted to cry when Sherin told me @bts_bighit wanted me to come down to their dressing room to hang out.... like what is life. THEY'RE SO NICE."

The surprise release of "Chicken Noodle Soup" Friday marks the first BTS-related project since the group took a one-month hiatus in August.

"This period of rest will be an opportunity for the members of BTS, who have relentlessly driven themselves towards their goal since their debut, to recharge and prepare to present themselves anew as musicians and creators," said Big Hit at the time. "This will also provide them with a chance to enjoy the ordinary lives of young people in their 20s, albeit briefly."

The group's extended break concluded mid-September and they are now back to work, reportedly on a television series.

"Chicken Noodle Soup" lyrics

If you're not fluent in Korean or Spanish, here are the lyrics to "Chicken Noodle Soup" translated into English, courtesy of the fan site Bangtan Subs:

A let it rain, and clear it out
A let it rain, and clear it out
A let it rain, and clear it out
A let it rain, and clear it out

Chicken Noodle Soup
Chicken Noodle Soup
Chicken Noodle Soup
Wit a soda on the side
Chicken Noodle Soup
Chicken Noodle Soup
Chicken Noodle Soup
Wit a soda on the side

From Gwangju, a gang from a little somewhere
Geum-nam Chung-jang Street, that's my Harlem
Joined Neuron, Bounce with ma Team
Went crazy for dance, workaholic, every day
Grew up staying up all night as a teen, that's the Case
My height is measured in dance, I'm Ok
A Plan to draw up a grand vision
A kid who leads the dream ahead
Steps that stomp all over the rhythm

Popping, Rocking, Hopping, Tutting, Dougie, Flexing
Swaggin'
Still do it every day, all the time
Work that I do for myself
Always spurring myself ahead, the carrots are in the trophy*
Betting on life, dance is my Cash
Hope on the street, now it's my own path
With Becky G on the side
Every day I lit

We always got love
For where we come from
So let 'em know what's up

No matta wherever we go
Bring it back to this place called home (baby)
Now that you know that
Let me see you

Chicken Noodle Soup
Chicken Noodle Soup
Chicken Noodle Soup
Wit a soda on the side
Chicken Noodle Soup
Chicken Noodle Soup
Chicken Noodle Soup
Wit a soda on the side

Chicken Noodle Soup
Chicken Noodle Soup
Chicken Noodle Soup
Wit a soda on the side
Chicken Noodle Soup
Chicken Noodle Soup
Chicken Noodle Soup
Wit a soda on the side

Chicken noodle or chicken with spaghetti
None of these women have the flow that Becky has
Latin american I'm from here
Saintly little face but freaky

Yeah
What are you going to tell me (huh)
I've already seen everything (huh)
Where I was born
They didn't think that a woman would stand out

What you gonna do what you gonna do
What you gonna do what you gonna do
What you gonna do what you gonna do
What you gonna do what you gonna do

Look back at it
Lights camera action
Definitely the best on the scene
Word on the street we got the people reactin'
I pity the people who simply criticise

We always got love
For where we come from
So let 'em know what's up

No matta wherever we go
Bring it back to this place called home (baby)
Now that you know that
Let me see you

A let it rain, and clear it out
A let it rain, and clear it out
A let it rain, and clear it out
A let it rain, and clear it out

And let's get it
Let's get it
Let's get it
Let's get it
Let's get it
Let's get it
Let's get it
Let's get it

A let it rain, and clear it out
A let it rain, and clear it out

Chicken Noodle Soup
Chicken Noodle Soup
Chicken Noodle Soup
Wit a soda on the side
Chicken Noodle Soup
Chicken Noodle Soup
Chicken Noodle Soup
Wit a soda on the side

Chicken Noodle Soup
Chicken Noodle Soup
Chicken Noodle Soup
Wit a soda on the side
Chicken Noodle Soup
Chicken Noodle Soup
Chicken Noodle Soup
Wit a soda on the side

And let's get it
Let's get it
Let's get it
Let's get it
Let's get it
Let's get it
Let's get it
Let's get it

* The actual word J-Hope used here is 채찍하다/ chejjikhada which literally means 'to whip'. He is referring to the carrot and stick metaphor, where you can use either a whip (punishment) or a carrot (prize) to make a horse move forward. J-Hope is saying that he is his own whip, pushing himself ahead, while he is also motivated by prizes and success.

Public Speaking Concepts:

  1. Introduction and Attention-Getter: The introduction of a speech serves the purpose of gaining the audience's attention and hooking them in immediately. Novice speakers often make the mistake of assuming that the audience will naturally listen, but it's essential to employ specific strategies to grab the audience's attention .

  2. Conclusion and Call to Action: The conclusion of a speech wraps up the presentation by providing a summary of what the audience was supposed to have learned or been persuaded to do. A strong ending often includes a call to action, where the audience is directed on what to do with the information they have learned .

  3. Methods of Speech Delivery: Different methods of speech delivery, such as memorized, impromptu, extemporaneous, and manuscript, offer unique advantages and disadvantages. For example, a memorized speech allows the speaker to fully face the audience and make eye contact, but the speaker may experience nervousness and forget parts of the speech .

  4. Organizing Speeches: Organizing speeches is crucial for improving clarity of thought in a systematic way and increasing the likelihood of the speech being effective. Disorganized speeches can lead to audience confusion and may affect the speaker's credibility .
