Regardless of the time of year, you can pull out your crab legs and enjoy a nice sandwich.
Close your eyes, take a bite and pretend you’re sitting on the beach or up on the boardwalk somewhere – overlooking the bay as you watch the ships pass by. The lighthouse off in the distance… It’s perfect!

Ingredients
• 4 King Crab Legs
• 4 Slices Multi-Grain Bread
• 1/4 Cup Spectrum Canola Mayonnaise
• 1/4 Cup Green Onionchopped
• 1/4 Cup Tomatochopped
• 1 tbsp. Lemon Juicefreshly squeezed
• 2 tbsp. Melted Butter
• 1/2 tsp. Onion Powder
• 1/2 tsp. Garlic Powder
• Salt & Pepper to taste
Instructions
Fill a large pan with 1 to 2 inches of water. Bring to boil. Add crab legs. Boil for approximately 5 minutes. Remove crab legs from water. Set aside and let cool.
Dice green onion and tomato into small pieces. Slice lemon in half. Set aside.
Add butter to small microwavable bowl. Microwave for 1 to 2 minutes or until butter is melted. Set aside.
Preheat oven at 250 degrees F.
Use hands to break lobster apart at joints. If you can pull crab meat from shell without breaking further, go ahead. Otherwise, take knife and make one continuous cut down each shell. Pry shell open with fingers and remove crab meat.
Cut crab meat into various sizes. Place crab meat in medium mixing bowl. Drizzle 1 tbsp. melted butter over crab meat. Stir. Add diced green onion, diced tomatoes, mayonnaise, freshly squeezed lemon juice, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir. Place in refrigerator.
Lay 4 slices multi-grain bread on aluminum foil sheet. Drizzle 1 tbsp. melted butter on top of slices. Place in oven for 3 to 4 minutes or until just crispy (rotating sides halfway through). Remove bread from oven.
Flex bread into shape of hot dog buns. Scoop crab meat mixture onto bread. Plate your crab rolls onto serving dishes and enjoy with some Cape Cod Potato Chips and ice-cold beer.

Whisk mayonnaise, lemon zest, lemon juice, hot sauce, pepper and salt in a medium bowl. Thoroughly mix in shallot, celery and 3 tablespoons chives. Mix in crab very gently so it doesn't break up too much. Line each bun with lettuce and divide the crab filling among the buns.
Imitation crab is made with surimi, a paste made out of finely shredded or pulverized fish. After the fish is minced, it is heated and pressed into shapes that resemble meat from a crab leg. The resulting imitation crab looks similar to the original crab in its coloring and texture.
The main wrapped ingredients are the avocado and imitation crab (surimi sticks); these are all typically wrapped with seaweed, although soy paper can be used. Premium versions may use real crab, as in the original recipe. The cucumber may have been used since the beginning, or added later, depending on the account.
Imitation crab, also known as “krab” or “crab sticks,” is a type of seafood made from white fish and starch that is molded to resemble and taste like snow or spider crab meat. It was invented in 1974 by Sugiyo Co. of Japan under the name “kanimam” and is now consumed around the globe.

Do you have to wash imitation crab before eating? No. Imitation crab is precooked and therefore sold in ready-to-use form. Crab sticks are particularly popular and many recipes instruct you to just toss them in an air fryer and serve with some sauce.
Basically, if it's legit crab you're after, the menu or ingredient label will simply state it as such. Price is also a tell-tale sign, as imitation crab tends to be about one-third the price of genuine crab meat, hence its popularity as an affordable stand-in for the real deal.
Compared to imitation crab, real crab is also significantly higher in several vitamins and minerals — including vitamin B12, zinc, and selenium. This is partly because pollock, the main fish used to make imitation crab is lower in these nutrients.
One of the main reasons why crab meat is expensive is due to the high cost of catching and processing the crabs. Crabbing is a labor-intensive process that requires skilled workers to operate specialized equipment such as crab traps and crab pots.
You'll know when imitation crab starts going bad. It will start to smell fishy, the texture will be slimy, and it will taste sour. If your imitation crab shows any of these signs, it's time to toss it immediately. Remember to sanitize every surface that came in contact with it.
There are very few vitamins present in imitation crab. For example, 3 ounces (oz) or 85 g of imitation crab only contains 0.484 micrograms (mcg) of vitamin B12. However, imitation crab does have some mineral content, with 240 mg of phosphorus and 19 mcg of selenium per serving.
California roll is a type of sushi roll (makizushi 巻き寿司 or rolled sushi in Japanese) made with seasoned sushi rice, crabmeat (real or imitation), avocado, and cucumber. It is an “inside-out” roll, known as uramaki (裏巻き), where the fillings and nori (dried roasted seaweed sheet) are rolled inside the sushi rice.
