Although not a member of the Biorefine Cluster Europe, the STRATUS EU Project might be of interest to many of our member organisations.➿ The partners of this newly launched project want to set up a network of agricultural advisors across Europe, focusing on 3 major themes: #precision fertilisation, biobased #fertilisers and #soil quality.

** Throwback Thursday **Let's take a look at our many conferences over the years. We organized one in 2018 and six in 2022 - thanks to the support of our members and growing CAASA team!Today we look at our first/second Private Equity & Venture Capital Assembly - I give the option as we had our Afternoon of Alternatives in 2019 and added a great deal of content to arrive at our PEVCA in 2020. Of course, this was offered virtually only and we offered Table Talks over the 2 days as well as some pretty unbelievable speakers and panelists. Attracting many delegates and sponsors (especially investors!), it illustrated to us the importance of this area on investment to investors and how it supports the Canadian economy directly - since many of the companies invested in are Canadian start-ups or substantial going concerns. Our little virtual drinks session probably helped a bit also. You can view the program here: https://lnkd.in/gU-BXaX8All of our publications are available here: https://lnkd.in/gTwUCzPPWe would like to note that at all of our conferences we strive for a 40% investors, 40% managers, and 20% service provider attendee break-down and have achieved this in virtually all cases. This, we believe, is a golden ratio that provides value to all attendees. We also like to keep our conferences smaller (200-250 max) and would only increase delegate maximums if we have the requisite (40%+) block of investors already registered. We're in this for the long-haul and for member value!

Attending a seminar at NHO on increasing the Research and Innovation effort in Norwegian business and industry. Idar Kreutzer set the scene and Mari Sundli Tveit and Anne Kjersti Fahlvik presented Norges forskningsråd recommendations on Improvements. Then there was a panel with DNV, GE HealthCare and Aker BioMarine ASA. Research and innovation is essential if Norway is going to keep factories and competence clusters in the country. Aina Berg from NORCE Norwegian Research Centre then profiled the DIGIWELL SFI and plugging and abandonment that was followed up by an industry-financed initiative at a higher TRL. A strong defence of the centre for research-driven innovation program. We need to reverse the NOK 500m cut in industrial R&I in recent years. We need meeting places, such as Blått Kvantesprang, where clusters collaborate. Then a political response from the Norwegian parliament - education Kari-Anne Jønnes (H) and trade committees Alfred Bjørlo (V). It is good that the idea of Missions is still in the R&I agenda. But the missions are too modest! Everything is too siloed - especially now that digital, energy and environment all hang together. Thanks to Rebekka Borsch for leading the meeting.

📢 Calling all RSEs around the world! 🌏 🌍 🌎 Two RSE Worldwide sessions will be hosted at #RSECon24, bringing together members of the global Research Software Engineering community. The sessions provide a platform for members of the diverse global community to meet, network, and share experiences and perspectives. Emerging communities can benefit from the experiences of more established networks, while longer-standing communities can better understand the international impact of RSEng.The growing number of events dedicated to RSEng taking place around the world is an encouraging sign of the strength and ongoing success of the RSE movement, but carries the threat of a “siloing” effect as local and regional groups focus ever more inward. This session presents an opportunity to discuss how we – as members of the international RSE community – can foster strong, vibrant local communities while reaping the benefits of international coordination and cooperation.Session info:1. 4th September, 14:50 - 16:05 UTC (recommended for RSEs in North & South America)2. 5th September, 08:30 - 09:15 UTC (recommended for RSEs in Africa, Asia, Europe, and Oceania)Learn more, find links to convert session times to your local time zone, and register to join RSE Worldwide at https://lnkd.in/g8kJjYjQParticipation in RSE Worldwide is free, without registration for the full conference, and everyone is welcome! Nevertheless, we do recommend that you explore the amazing conference programme and register for remote participation in the whole event! https://lnkd.in/gpP-eqG7

Today, CIGRE Nederland had its biannual meeting with the Study Committee chairs and the Next Generation Network (NGN). Besides an update on the ins and outs of CIGRE Netherlands, we reflected on how the Study Committee chairs (SCs) give shape and meaning to their SC. A fruitful exchange of perspectives on the role, function and approach and also as on-boarding inspiring for those recently in a chairmanship role.🤝 Collaboration is key. As chairs, cross-committee in working groups and knowledge events, as SCs together with our NGN members, as well as with the international network; also outside the E-sector. The complexity of the tasks we face in the energy transition requires sustained energy and commitment to that cooperation as well as entering into new relationships with adjacent sectors. Something we are fully committed to, as our successful international events show.⚡ A shared vision is also that we need to move faster than ever. Working groups that work on a subject for four to six years have had their day. Developments are moving fast and this requires a disruptive approach. Shorter knowledge-development cycles, working on it and learning from it, and integrating this in further innovation. We are entering more discussions with the international committees of CIGRE to tailor the Terms of Reference to this.💕 During the final matchmaking between NGN members and the respective SCs, new contacts emerged through which young people can contribute and learn. This need not only have a content focus 🎓. Skill training in the 21st century is at least as relevant for making complexity manageable and learning to understand, appreciate and harness a diversity of views, practices and cultures. In this sense, participation in CIGRE (NL) is not only a task in terms of knowledge development, but equally a life-shaping experience in professional and personal development. 🙏 Thanks to Monique Krieg-Wezelenburg, Jacco Smit and René Troost for your inspiring pitches, Sanjay Ganeshan for co-organizing the Match Making with NGN and Henk Sanders for sharing your years of extensive international experience within the world of CIGRE.

The pivotal moment that steered my career toward the Energy Sector was my attendance of CIGRE Australia's CIDER conference - however, upon attending future conferences, I found young professionals a rarity.Industry conferences stand out as indispensable assets for young professionals aiming to enter a specific sector. They serve as vital platforms for not only expanding industry knowledge but also cultivating a robust professional network. For young professionals aspiring to break into the energy sector, I cannot recommend attending industry conferences enough. These events offer an opportunity to grasp essential concepts and chart a course within a new industry. Whether you're considering attending your first conference or seeking strategies to maximise your experience, I invite you to explore the insights shared in the linked video, where I delve deeper into unlocking the full potential of industry conferences.#energytransition #industryconferences #australianpowersector #professionaldevelopment #careergrowth

Today at EPRI European Workshop Week 2024 showcasing EDP’s research and innovation strategy and organization… towards leading the energy transition. Also, importantly, learning from peers where utilities and energy companies are placing there bets… the value of openness and collaboration is huge and many times, namely on R&D, goes way beyond competition. All brains, all hands, all euros… shall be pooled together for the transformational journey we’ve all embarked on: to have a sustainable world to live in and to leave to our children… and their children…
