Making low carb simple
Instructions
Shred the cabbage finely using a sharp knife or a food processor.
Fry the cabbage in half of the butter in a large frying or wok pan on medium-high heat. It takes a while for the cabbage to soften, but don't let it turn brown.
Add spices and vinegar. Stir and fry for a couple of minutes more. Put the cabbage in a bowl.
Melt the rest of the butter in the same frying pan. Add garlic, chili flakes and ginger. Sauté for a few minutes.
Add ground meat and brown until the meat is thoroughly cooked and most of the juices have evaporated. Lower the heat a little.
Add scallions and cabbage to the meat. Stir until everything is hot. Salt and pepper to taste. Drizzle with sesame oil before serving.
Mix together the wasabi mayonnaise by starting with a small amount of wasabi and adding more until the flavor is just right. Serve the stir-fry warm with a dollop of wasabi mayonnaise on top.
Substituting ingredients
Want variety? You can replace the beef with other kinds of protein like ground chicken, pork or lamb. If you have other sorts of cabbage like red cabbage or savoy cabbage, they will work just as fine.
If you don't like mayonnaise you can substitute that for crème fraîche, sour cream, or even cream cheese.
Storing and reheating
This dish keeps in the fridge for at least 3-4 days. You can also store it in the freezer for up to 4 months.
Thawing and reheating can make the cabbage release its liquids so the dish may be a bit more watery compared to freshly cooked. This does not affect the flavor of the dish.

I've been making this recipe for decades. For those that find this too oily, (I can't eat too much fat, no gallbladder) I saute my cabbage in bacon grease, then add water or chicken broth if more moisture is needed. Works fine with ground beef, pork, chicken, or any kind of rope sausage. I serve with horseradish, but anything spicy would work.

Very good! I used a ground beef/ground pork mixture. I did not make the Wasabi mayonnaise, but the dish was fine. It was very filling! To make again.

Without pastry , but added brocolli and spinachWe do not have the break down for the individual components of the dish, but you can calculate the carbs using an app like Carb Manager or Cronometer. We use the USDA database for our nutrition information.

I make this recipe regularly, it is a really nice comfort food on a cold day. I was worried about the wasabi mayo but in the quantities it's in, it's more of a flavour than heat. It all mixes together really nicely and it's very yummy :) I make it with turkey thigh mince as I don't like beef.

I make this regularly. To my taste the wasabi doesn't add heat — for that, I add sriracha. I also find the listed amount of fat quite extreme, literally a fat soup. I find halving the amount of fat, using a lean mince, and then adjusting manually with the mayo to be a better method.

Super delicious! I don't do chilli so used ceyene pepper and paprika.... Bit of a bite but not chilli burn. Again, could only eat half the portion!

This is one of my favourites! I use pork for the asian cabbage stir fry, beef for the Italian and ground lamb for the Indian. I am also not a fan of the wasabi mayo so I top with sour cream with wasabi on the side. On all of the stir fries I cut back on the protein.

9 net carbs? This doesn’t seem right! What ingredients in here have that many carbs? A whole cup of cabbage is only 5!

I keep shredded cabbage in the freezer for quick stir-fries during the week, so excited to try this. It was good but with some modifications.
The ginger is excessive (almost 2-tablespoons per serving?!), mostly because of the carb count on that. I made this twice, the 2nd time cutting the ginger by more than half and it was just as good. It does need a little additional flavouring if you're not going to use the wasabi mayo, though. Overall, it's a good recipe that allows you to put your own spin on it. Create your own calorie count though as I believe this recipe is undercounting carbs.273

It says cut the scallions 1/2 inches or 2.5cm. Half inch sounds reasonable, but the conversion to centimeters is wrong.

I grabbed the "meatball mix" ground meat from my grocery store. Pork, beef, and veal. Worked perfect for this.

Really delicious flavors. I left the scallions out since they're hard to find, and added crispy chili oil to the mayo instead of wasabi. However it was a bit greasy/oily. I think the amount of butter and sesame oil can be reduced by a third and it would still be great. One thing to cut into the grease if it's too late is to add a splash of vinegar for balance. I'll be making this one again.

Bacon grease aka liquid gold. The BEST seasoning in the world. My Grandma and Mom were hoarders of it and at age 65, I’ve done the same LOL Can never have enough!

Hello! The default number of servings is 4, so you would divide the amount as best as you can into 4 equal servings. However, you can adjust the serving sizes as needed!

Possibly my favourite keto recipe! I make it even when I'm not doing keto. I use beef strips (because for so long I didn't realise the recipe called for minced meat!) and substitute wasabi for English mustard, because thats whats in my cupboard.
