I found a 300 ml pottle of milk just right with these ingredients, making a perfect stock base for differing styles, – bacon & maple syrup, blueberries &/or bananas with maple syrup, spicy mexican beans with sour cream, or as a batter for bread fritters with tomato relish….

Can’t wait to try these have tried quite a few pancake recipes over time, and while they are ok, this one looks really good, so am keen to try. Thanks for this. I’m talking about the one at the top, not the one someone posted halfway down the page, which sorry but I found bit rude. Why not start your own page, not try to get in on someone else. Just my opinion, everyone else might be quite happy, with that, I just find it bit rude. Anyway looking forward to trying the top of the page recipe, and my son can’t wait to try them. Many thanks for posting it.

Also to add to my first comment, I use a flat sandwich press to cook them, and each pancake I use a 1/4 cup as a scoop and it makes about 8.

I would only do this if you need a yummy meal in quicker time. My friend uses a sandwich press and it pushes out most of the fluffyness of the pancake. If you have the time, definitely avoid the sandwich press.
In a hurry, the pancakes are still pretty good.

I tried this recipe and half way through I realised I didn’t have any eggs so I added 1/4 cup of apple sauce to substitute and it worked fine, I also only put half a tablespoon of baking powder in a small I was to scared to do too much and it also worked fine. They turned out very fluffy and delicious 5/5 recommend

What is the key to making the best pancakes? ›

Making good pancakes depends on three key factors: mixing the batter to the right consistency, heating the griddle properly and recognizing when to turn the cakes. Whether making pancake batter from scratch or from a packaged mix, stir it just enough to moisten the dry ingredients.

What makes pancakes rise and be fluffy? ›

Pancakes and waffles typically both contain baking soda, which causes them to rise. As soon as the baking soda is combined with the wet ingredients (which contain an acidic ingredient, like often buttermilk), it starts producing carbon dioxide gas bubbles that cause the batter to rise.

Queen Elizabeth adhered to a daily teatime meal; her preference for delicate sandwiches with the crusts cut off was well-publicized. Her favorite version was reported to be smoked salmon with cream cheese. If the old adage is true, one should eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dine like a pauper.

What not to do when making pancakes? ›

When preparing your pancake batter, avoid mixing it too much. If overdone, the mixing will overdevelop the gluten, giving the pancake a tough texture. To avoid this, it is recommended that you first mix the dry ingredients and then create a well in the middle.

Why do you put milk instead of water in pancakes? ›

Texture and taste make a difference.

When you're craving a creamy, fluffy, and nostalgic buttermilk flapjack breakfast, using regular milk is the way to go. Whole milk gives your flapjacks a slightly sweeter taste, as non-fat milk tends to highlight the sourness of buttermilk ever so slightly.

What ingredient keeps pancakes from falling apart? ›

Your batter could be too loose—add a little flour.

Do pancakes taste better with water or milk? ›

Can I Use Water Instead of Milk in Pancakes? Milk adds both flavor and texture to pancake batter, so if you are looking to make pancakes without milk, a simple swap to water doesn't always do the trick. For pancakes made without milk, you'll want to add some flavor through melted butter and vanilla extract.

What makes pancakes fluffy and helps them rise? ›
