While Rune Factory 5 is a farming sim game, it is also an action RPG. As such, the kinds of weapons players decide to take into battle will be an important choice. With eight different weapon types and a plethora of weapons within those categories, it can be overwhelming for players to decide whether to charge into battle with an axe or a short sword.

However, not all weapons are created equally, and while some swords may have a higher bonus to the attack stat, there could be a staff that confers varied benefits more useful than just a high attack stat.
10 Become A Tornado Of Steel With Twin Dragon Swords
The Twin Dragon Swords will appeal to any player looking for a fast attack. Dual blades have always been the fastest weapon type in Rune Factory, capable of dicing up enemies in seconds, and the Twin Dragons are the perfect example of what dual blades can do. They increase the player's attack by a whopping 12,000 points and increase their magic attack by an equally impressive 10,000 points, turning the player into a blender as they can carve through even the strongest enemies. They also grant players an extra 3% chance to inflict dizziness (Rune Factory's version of stunning an enemy).
The only real drawback of the weapons is that they offer few benefits beyond high attack boosts. For those looking for raw power though, the Twin Dragon Swords are a great weapon to pick up.
9 The Smash Blade Has A Variety Of Useful Benefits
Short swords are the perfect choice for players looking for an all-around type of weapon. Not too fast, not too slow, decent attack boosts, and decent range, the Smash Blade embodies this by being the most balanced choice from the short sword list. The real draw of the Smash Blade is the myriad of status effects it both inflicts and resists.

Smash Blades have a 12% chance of inflicting dizziness, a 15% chance of landing a critical hit, and a 15% chance of knocking back monsters. On top of that, it adds a 5% chance of resisting dizziness, a 5% chance of resisting critical hits, and an 8% chance to resist poison and seal (which prevents spells from being cast).
8 Become An Army Of One With Legion
Of all the melee weapon groups in the game, spears unsurprisingly have the best range. In previous Rune Factory games, the range provided by spears could be the difference between life or death in some dungeons. Of all the spears in Rune Factory 5, the spear called Legion is the most powerful, granting players a mighty 12,850 points to their attack, while adding 500 points to their defense, 9,000 points to magic attack, 180 points to magic defense, and an 8% chance to inflict dizziness on enemies.
7 Fatal Crush Truly Lives Up To Its Name
Hammers and axes function similarly in the Rune Factory games but have subtle differences in stats that make both weapon types worth considering separately when deciding what to wield in battle. Fatal Crush might not be the most powerful weapon in the game, but it's certainly one of the best. A massively oversized, spiked hammer, Fatal Crush has slightly more range than the average hammer because of its size.

The extra range is already great, but on top of that, it adds an extra 11,500 points to attack, has a 35% chance of inflicting dizziness, and has a 7% chance to critically hit. Between the benefits and novelty of carrying around a hammer bigger than the character's body, Fatal Crush is a worthy contender for the ultimate weapon.
6 The Saint Axe Is Divinely Powerful
The most powerful axe available to players in the game, the Saint Axe, earns its place at the top of the axe food chain. It increases the player's attack by 13,500 points and increases their magic attack by 8,500 points. On top of all of that, it has an extra 10% chance to critically hit and adds a small but meaningful 2% chance to inflict dizziness.
The massive power boost is almost unbeatable by any other weapon, and while others have a higher chance of critically hitting, the massive power boost this celestial weapon adds means its critical hits will be more meaningful and deadlier.
5 Bjor Is Sickeningly Effective
Bjor's in-game description says it has been drenched in every poison available to mankind, and its stats make that very clear. With an extra 5,000 points to attack and 950 points to magic attack, this spear is a heavy hitter. On top of that, it adds 250 points to its wielder's defense, ensuring the player can give as good as they get.

The cherry on top of this venomous treat, though, is the various status ailments it can inflict. Bjor has a 15% chance of inflicting, poison, paralysis, and sickness. On top of these three status ailments, Bjorn also has an 8% chance of inflicting dizziness on enemies, making it a truly deadly spear.
4 Strike Fear Into Your Enemies With The Devil Finger Axe
The Devil Finger axe is inarguably one of the best weapons in the game. While it isn’t the strongest of all the possible axes, it has an especially useful skill that few other weapons naturally get. In addition to its high bonuses to attack and magical attack, the weapon has a specification that it has a 10% drain. What this means is that the weapon heals the player for 10% of the damage they deal for each hit.
The axe also has a small bonus to the player's critical hit chance and chance to inflict dizziness, but the real draw of this axe is the ability to drain health from enemies to heal yourself. With the Devil Finger in hand, the player never needs to worry about damage so long as they swing away.
3 The Magic Shot Is A Weapon As Classic As It Is Powerful
The signature weapon of a character from Rune Factory 3, the Magic Shot is also known as the trumpet syringe, as it is a massive, terrifying syringe shaped like a trumpet. Thankfully in Rune Factory 5, the terror of this bizarre staff will be pointed squarely at enemy monsters, as it increases attack by 7,980 points, magic attack by 7,350 points, and magic defense by 50 points.
In addition, it also has an impressive 30% chance to inflict dizziness and an incredible 50% chance to critically hit and knock enemies back. The Magic Shot is the perfect weapon for a magic-user looking to add a little alchemy to their attacks.
2 Wield The Strength of Dragons With Twin Dragon Claws
Fists are the most dynamic weapons in the whole game. Once an enemy is staggered by a punch the player can lift them and either throw them for an attack with massive splash damage or throw them away for massive damage to that monster. With these techniques, fist weapons can be used to clear dungeons with much stronger enemies by using the massive throw attack to clear floors.
Twin Dragon Claws add to this by providing massive stat boosts to all both types of attack and defense. With the Twin Dragon Claws equipped, the player will feel like the mightiest of the Elder Dragons, even if they aren't one.
1 There Is No Weapon Stronger Than Heaven Asunder
With such a dramatic name, players would be right in assuming this long sword is the mightiest of mighty weapons. While it provides massive boosts to attack and magic attack and has a decent chance to critically hit and inflict dizziness, Heaven Asunder has one final ability that makes it so powerful, a 50% chance to inflict faint attacks.
Faint attacks are special attacks that defeat an enemy in one hit and with a 50% chance to inflict such an attack, Heaven Asunder will be killing enemies in one hit frequently, making it the most powerful weapon in all of Rune Factory 5.
